Bud Light (NYSE: BUD) is set to release a line of hard seltzer lemonades as it aims to stake a hold of the competitive division. The line will have four flavors including Original Lemonade, Black Cherry Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade and Peach Lemonade. Since piercing the category just last year, the company has launched a selection of products.
“After launching Bud Light Seltzer last year, it quickly became one of the top innovations in the entire category and in the history of the brand. We are excited to continue expanding our portfolio with the new Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade variety pack,” said Andy Goeler , Vice President of Marketing, Bud Light. “Our Seltzer Lemonade marries the bold flavors of lemonade with the refreshing bubbliness of seltzer; this new offering is perfect for both established seltzer fans and those who are looking to give seltzer a try.”
According to Nielsen data, sales for spiked seltzer products skyrocketed 160% to USD4.1 Billion in a 52 week time frame, ending December 26.
Bud Light revealed that the favorable outcome of its seltzer has attributed to it being able to acquire more market share in 2020 than it had in the last five years. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, more customers found themselves drinking alcohol at home rather than in bars.
“As we started to look at all of the different types of seltzers coming in, we started to go in the direction of trying to differentiate a segment of the seltzer category,” said Andy Goeler, Bud Light’s vice president of marketing.
Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade will be available nationwide beginning Monday, January 18.
