Cyngn, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYN) recently finalized a commercial contract to deploy its DriveMod Tugger autonomous robot at a WEG Electric Motor manufacturing facility in Bluffton, Indiana. Through this strategic deployment, WEG intends to reallocate its existing forklift labor force. Specifically, the manufacturer will shift personnel away from routine material transport duties, allowing them to focus on higher-value production and warehouse operations.

Automating Industrial Material Transport

Currently, the DriveMod Tugger automates the physical movement of electric motor components between the facilitys machining and warehouse areas. Previously, human operators executed manual forklift runs to move single pallets one at a time. The newly implemented autonomous system now supports the transport of up to 60 pallets per day. Consequently, this automation stabilizes material flow across the factory floor while simultaneously reducing non-value-added driving and vehicular congestion.

Lior Tal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cyngn, noted that WEG material handlers previously spent a significant portion of their shifts conducting repetitive transport runs. Furthermore, Tal explained that this deployment enables skilled labor to maintain focus on complex machining and warehouse operations, leaving predictable and repeatable movement to the DriveMod system. He emphasized that this implementation demonstrates how autonomous technology directly improves safety, resource utilization, and overall operational efficiency within manufacturing environments.

Company Backgrounds and Technological Capabilities

WEG operates as a major global industrial manufacturer. In 2024, the company reported approximately $7 billion in revenue. WEG currently maintains branches across 41 countries and manages a portfolio exceeding 1,500 product lines worldwide.

Simultaneously, Cyngn continues to develop and deploy autonomous vehicle technology designed specifically for industrial organizations, including logistics companies and heavy manufacturers. The company directly addresses critical operational challenges, such as persistent labor shortages and costly safety incidents.

Cyngn's DriveMod technology allows customers to integrate self-driving capabilities without incurring massive upfront costs or requiring extensive infrastructure modifications. Currently, the company offers DriveMod on Motrec MT-160 Tuggers and BYD Forklifts. The DriveMod Tugger can haul up to 12,000 pounds, operates both indoors and outdoors, and targets a typical return on investment period of under two years. Additionally, the DriveMod Forklift manages heavy loads on non-standard pallets and remains available to select customers.
