Wintrust Financial Corporation: No Reason Not To Bank On It

Around three months ago, I decided to reaffirm my "Buy" rating on Wintrust Financial Corporation ( WTFC ). With a market capitalization today of $9.10 billion, it's one of the largest financial institutions that I cover regularly. Most of the firms that I look at range between $100 million and $5 billion in size. But even the larger firms, the ones least likely to be overlooked by the market, have the opportunity to do well in the right circumstances. And the fact of the matter is that, from a fundamental perspective, Wintrust Financial Corporation has done an exceptional job. Revenue, profits, and certain balance sheet metrics continue to grow nicely. And on top of this, asset quality remains solid. Admittedly, shares are just a little bit above where I would like them to be. But a small premium for such a quality institution makes sense to me....
