ARNC - Aluminum price revisits 13-year high on strong demand large shortages

Benchmark aluminum on the London Metal Exchange (LMAHDS03:COM) +2.1% at $2,917/metric ton, challenging last month's high of $3,000 for its highest since July 2008, while LME copper (HG1:COM) +1.7% at $9,283/mt. China has imposed production curbs on high-polluting industries such as smelting to cut power use and emissions, creating large shortages. Reuters reports copper stocks in warehouses monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange are at their lowest since June 2009 at 43,525 mt, while inventories in LME-registered warehouses have fallen more than 10% over the past month to 216.7K mt.
