AZRE - Azure Power appoints Gupta as new CEO starting in July

Azure Power ( NYSE: AZRE ) said Wednesday it selected Sunil Gupta as its new CEO effective July 10, replacing acting CEO Rupesh Agrawal, who will be departing to pursue other opportunities.

Before coming to Azure ( AZRE ), Sunil was the head of Southeast Asia & South Asia Business at Vena Energy, an Asia Pacific renewable energy company, managing existing business and developing new projects; earlier he was group head of renewable energy at Sembcorp Industries.

Azure ( AZRE ) also named Sugata Sircar as Group CFO and Executive Director of Finance for the Azure Power India Private Ltd. subsidiary starting May 1.

Azure Power ( AZRE ) offers a "promising outlook challenged by controversies," The Green Edge wrote in an analysis published on Seeking Alpha .
