MNST - Buzzworthy: Hard seltzer now accounts for 10% of all beer sales
The latest read on Nielsen data is that at-home alcoholic beverage demand is still strong to take some of the pressure off for beverage companies for lost on-premise sales amid the pandemic. Total beverage alcohol dollar sales growth accelerated to 17.5% Y/Y for the week ended September 5 from +9.9% the prior week. Cowen's Vivien Azer notes that COVID-19 to-date growth for total beverage alcohol is +22.7%, with both spirits and wine outpacing the category at +32.9% and +24.7%, respectively. Combined beer is up 18.3% over the same timeframe. "In the most recent week, hard seltzer grew 99% marking an acceleration relative to the prior week's growth of 87%.
