KRT - Containerboard stocks volatile as price increases weighed
Containerboard stocks are on watch after Packaging Corp. ([[PKG]] -3.1%) is reported to have announced a $70/ton price increase on linerboard and corrugating medium effective July 15. That news follows WestRock's ([[WRK]] -3.2%) announcement last week of a $50 per ton increase on linerboard and $70 per ton on medium.KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst Adam Josephson expects other producers to also announce their own price increases with demand conditions "historically good" at the moment due to supply chain disruptions and robust demand. Sector watch: International Paper ([[IP]] -2.2%), Cascades ([[CADNF]] +6.5%), Greif ([[GEF]] -4.0%), Karat Packaging ([[KRT]] +0.9%). Of course, the price hikes all fall into the same general investing theme on the impact of inflation. On that topic, JPMorgan's Jamie Dimon had some thoughts today.
