ETM - Entercom rises 5.2% as it rebrands to Audacy with eye on podcast future
Radio company Entercom Communications (ETM) is rebranding itself as Audacy, a setup for a world with more streaming audio and podcasting. Shares are up 5.2%. The company has made a number of moves that have brought about an evolution, it says, including acquiring CBS Radio, launching the Radio.com platform, acquiring podcasting firms Cadence13 and Pineapple Street Studios (along with Podcorn), and acquiring QL Gaming Group. “We have transformed into a fundamentally different and dramatically enhanced organization and so it is time to embrace a new name and brand identity which better reflects who we have become and our vision for the future,” says CEO/President David Field. The company will change its ticker symbol to AUD on or about Friday, April 9. And along with the Entercom name, it's also bringing an end to its Radio.com brand.
