VWAGY - European Union market for commercial vehicles declined 4.2% in December
Commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union slightly fell 4.2% to 170,122 units in December, followed by +0.1% in November.Registrations increased in Germany by 4.7% and Spain +2.3% while the Italian markets contracted 9.4% and French -2.1%.For FY2020, commercial vehicle registrations declined 18.9% to 1.7M units. All 27 EU markets continued to record double-digit decline, including the four major ones: Spain -26.1%, France -16.9%, Germany -14.8% and Italy -15.1%.New light commercial vehicles registrations decreased 6% Y/Y to 145,238 units, supported by sales Germany +2.5% and Spain +1.6%.New heavy commercial vehicles registrations up by 11.8% to 16,839 units. Central European markets provided a strong boost to this growth, led by 48.4% increase in heavy-truck registrations in Poland.Registrations of new medium and heavy commercial vehicles up 7.1% to 21,266 units, largely driven by the positive performance of the heavy-duty segment.Registrations of new medium and heavy buses & coaches grew 13.4% to 3,618 units.
