CERN - Microsoft Vs Oracle: Which Is The Better Buy
- Microsoft is a growth stock with growing operational results and Oracle is a value stock manufacturing per share earnings growth with buybacks; MSFT's (P/E) is about 30, ORCL's about 15.
- Microsoft stock outperformed hugely since 2018 but it's pretty even in 2022.
- Microsoft revenues multiplied 2.5X in a decade, ORCL's were up 10% helped by 144 acquisitiions over two decades. Oracle runs hard just to stay in place.
- MSFT and ORCL have major pending acquisitions, ATVI for Microsoft, CERN for Oracle; the two are statistically similar but CERN is more certain.
- In a close call I might prefer Oracle; it's harder to sustain a high level of growth in a $2 trillion company than to sustain the present level in a company one tenth that size.
