APPH - SPAC Star Speak Corp II to to take plant-tech company Benson Hill public in $2B deal
Benson Hill, a company uses tech such as AI to optimize plant growth, is going public through a merger with SPAC Star Speak Corp. II (STPC).Benson Hill is expected to generate $625M in cash proceeds from the deal, the WSJ reported, citing an interview with Benson Hill CEO Matt Crisp.Benson Hill said in late October it completed a $150M Series D funding found led by Wheatsheaf Group and GV ("formerly Google Ventures"). New and returning investors included Argonautic Ventures, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Emart, GS Group, Louis Dreyfus Co., iSelect Fund, Fall Line Capital, Mercury Fund, Prelude Ventures, Prolog Ventures, and S2G Ventures.AppHarvest (APPH), also an agtech company, went public in February through a SPAC transaction.
