BioRestorative Therapies (NASDAQ: BRTX ) stock is taking off on Thursday following news that the medical company is in negotiations with an undisclosed commercial-stage regenerative medicine company.
These negotiations cover a potential license for BioRestorative’s ThermoStem metabolic intellectual property. The company says the discussions are “substantive” but can’t confirm they will lead to a deal. It also won’t announce any further details until it signs an agreement.
BioRestorative Therapies CEO Lance Alstodt said the following about this news:
“We are particularly pleased that our pioneering animal studies, which demonstrated that BADSCs show promise in correcting the weight gain and hyperglycemia associated with high fat feeding, and that our 3D scaffolds, which are capable of retaining viable transplanted cells for at least five weeks post-implantation, have attracted the caliber of commercial stage regenerative medicine company with which we are now engaged in substantive licensing discussions.”

Investors are excited about the company’s potential deal and that brings with it heavy trading of BRTX stock. This has more than 78 million shares on the move as investors buy the stock. To put that in perspective, BioRestorative Therapies’ daily average trading volume is well below that at 544,000 shares.
BRTX stock is up 42.3% as of Thursday morning.
