Core Scientific, Inc. is an operator of purpose-built facilities for digital asset mining and a provider of blockchain infrastructure, software solutions and services. The Company has blockchain infrastructure, hosting provider, and digital asset mining companies in North America with approximately 592 megawatts (MW) of power. The Company operates through two segments: Equipment Sales and Hosting, and Mining. The Equipment Sales and Hosting segment consists primarily of its blockchain infrastructure and third-party hosting business and equipment sales to customers. The Mining segment consists of digital asset mining for its own account. The Company mines digital assets for its own account and provides colocation hosting services for other large-scale miners. It mines Bitcoin for third-party hosting customers and for its own account at its eight fully operational data centers in Georgia (two), Kentucky (one), North Carolina (two), North Dakota (one) and Texas (two).
