OCLN - Enough is Enough: OriginClear and Basketball Legend Cedric Ceballos To Present Compton Water Campaign at Aspen Conference

OriginClear is sponsoring a nonprofit effort to improve water quality with support of American Renewable Energy Institute

OriginClear Inc. (OTC: OCLN), a leader in decentralized water treatment, will announce the Enough is Enough™ campaign at the 16th Aspen Renewable Energy Day Summit (https://www.areday.net/), August 15-17 in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado.

Basketball legend Cedric Ceballos (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedric_Ceballos) will join OriginClear CEO Riggs Eckelberry on stage to announce the direct-action campaign to help address the “disgusting brown water” experienced by some residents of Compton, California.

OriginClear is sponsoring, and the American Renewable Energy Institute has offered to be the fund manager for the campaign, which intends to raise funds to initially study, and ultimately upgrade each affected household in Compton to tap water that meets county requirements. The campaign intends to use local installers. Households will be given the option to “pay it forward” but will not be required to pay more than their existing water bill.

“We know that the Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Works is working very hard to solve the water problem,” said Riggs Eckelberry, OriginClear CEO. “This will buy them time. We believe a small device can be put in each affected home to clarify the water, and we intend to raise the funds to do so. This will buy time for the water district to solve the long-term problem.”

“Once we have solved this issue in Compton, we want to repeat the process in other cities in California and elsewhere," continued Eckelberry. “While we will be raising funds through the nonprofit process initially, we believe that this will be a great blueprint for government funding over time.”

Riggs Eckelberry is a returning speaker at the AREDAY Summit. He previously debated T. Boone Pickens in the same conference in 2014. In addition to presenting the "Enough is Enough" campaign, Eckelberry is expected to join a panel to discuss the new decentralized water megatrend, and how it could help mitigate climate change and earthquake problems. OriginClear recently issued a white paper addressing the benefit of modular, on-site water systems.

The brown water problem in Compton is thought to be primarily centered on the former Sativa Los Angeles County Water District, which served 1,600 customers and which DPW took over in February of this year. The county reportedly believes that the water coloring is caused by manganese in the local wells. The extent to which the problem extends beyond the Sativa area is not fully known. One of the goals of "Enough is Enough" will be to determine this extent, so it can be fully addressed.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said during his first State of the State address that the number of communities without clean drinking water is a “moral disgrace and a medical emergency” and added that “solving this crisis demands sustained funding.” Governor Newsom has since proposed a tax on drinking water to remedy the problems for these communities.

OriginClear plans to enter the home market with add-on products such as Roundup Killer™. However, for this immediate campaign, it intends to help select a conventional mass market vendor.

Riggs Eckelberry discussed the "Enough is Enough" campaign last week on a sponsored television show.

Cedric Ceballos played in the NBA for 14 years before his current role as Vice President for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and a co-host on Fox Sports Southwest. He led the league in field goals in 92-93 for the Phoenix Suns.
