CNK - 'Halloween Kills' ready to take a stab at uncertain box office
It's Halloween season in the movie industry, and that means this weekend features a classic slasher brand name set to make its box-office splash. Halloween Kills (NASDAQ:CMCSA) is the 12th film in an improbable series based on 1978 horror classic Halloween. And it's the second film in a "reboot trilogy" directed by David Gordon Green, who also directed the 2018 revamp Halloween, and featuring original star Jamie Lee Curtis. The 2018 film opened to a strong $76.2 million; the new movie opens on 3,600 screens while also appearing simultaneously streaming on NBCUniversal's Peacock service. So issuing a "pandemic discount" points closer to a $50 million opening.
