XONE - 3D Systems falls 14% weighs on other 3D printing companies
It was looking like a case of "sell on the news" for 3D Systems (NYSE:DDD), Tuesday, as the 3D printing technology company's shares remained down by more than 14% despite what for the most part was an upbeat quarterly earnings report. And the losses also weighed on other companies in the 3D printing sector. Desktop Metal (NYSE:DM) was off by more than 6%, ExOne (NASDAQ:XONE) shares shed more than 4%, and Voxeljet (NASDAQ:VJET) pulled back by almost 4% as the day progressed. On Monday, 3D Systems (DDD) posted a third-quarter profit of 8 cents a share, excluding one-time items, on revenue of $156.1 million, compared to analysts' forecasts for a profit of 5 cents a share, on $144.5 million in sales. During the same period a year ago, 3D Systems lost 3 cents a share, on revenue of $136.2 million. Analysts had forecast the company to earn 5 cents a share on $144.5 million in revenue.
