ABB - ABB wins contract to power huge Abu Dhabi desalination plant

ABB ([[ABB]] +1.0%) says it signed a contract to power the world's largest desalination plant to be built in Abu Dhabi, although the company does not disclose the financial details.ABB says it will provide 30 panels of medium voltage switchgear and 250 panels of low voltage switchgear to the $500M plant, which will have the capacity to process 909K cm/day of seawater.Once the Taweelah plant becomes fully operational, expected in Q4 2022, it will play a critical role in meeting the region's peak water demand, which is projected to rise by 11% during the 2017-24 period.The company also signed another contract to deliver automation, electrification and instrumentation solutions at a wastewater treatment center in Nashville, Tennessee.ABB, whose shares hit a 52-week high today, reportedly is preparing its turbocharging division for a sale or stock market listing that could raise fetch $1.5B-$2B.
