WZZZY - Airbus wins order for 255 jets in biggest deal since COVID-19 outbreak
Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF, OTCPK:EADSY) receives an order at the Dubai Air Show for 255 single-aisle A321neo passenger jets from P-E firm Indigo Partners, in a big bet on a recovery in tourist travel from COVID-19. Airbus does not provide a value for the order but based on the last published prices, Reuters reports the deal would be worth $32B, although discounts for such deals can reach well over 50%. The order includes 102 planes for Europe's Wizz Air (OTCPK:WZZAF), 91 for Frontier Airlines (FRNT), 39 for Volaris and 23 for JetSMART, with most of the deliveries planned for the second half of the decade. Delegates at the Dubai Air Show tell Reuters that the move by Indigo managing partner Bill Franke on day one marks an injection of confidence after the downturn caused by the pandemic.
