Algonquin Power & Utilities ( NYSE: AQN ) has attracted activist investor Starboard Value, which has held amicable discussions with the utility for weeks, Bloomberg reported Friday.

The size of Starboard's stake in Algonquin ( AQN ) and the changes it is seeking from the company is not yet known, according to the report .

Earlier this week, Algonquin ( AQN ) said it was terminating a planned purchase of Kentucky utilities from American Electric Power after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission had rejected the deal .
