SSNLF - Amazon tops market share in CTV devices with unit growth outpacing Roku
Sales of connected TV devices unsurprisingly reached a new high worldwide in the fourth quarter, moving 109.1M units. And the share leader there is Amazon.com (AMZN -0.3%), outpacing the No. 2 streaming-device company, Roku (ROKU -0.8%), as well as smart-TV and game console makers. The overall device sales count rose 9% year-over-year (and 34% on a sequential basis), according to Strategy Analytics - and Amazon sold 13.2M of them (up 36% from the prior fourth quarter). That was good for a 12.1% share of the connected-TV device market, counting streaming devices, smart TVs and consoles. That's ahead of Samsung ([[SSNLF]]; 10.9% share), Sony ([[SNE]]; 8.2% share) and Nintendo ([[NTDOY]] -0.4%; 7.7% share). LG had a 5.9% share, and Roku a 5.8% share.
