XLNX - AMD files Xilinx planned acquisition for EU approval
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has filed its planned acquisition of Xilinx (XLNX) with the European Union for review, according to a filing on the European Commission's web site.The filing has a provisional deadline of June 30.Earlier this month, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority started an inquiry into the deal with a deadline of July 6.In January, the mandatory waiting period required for the FTC and Department of Justice to investigate deals for potential antitrust issues expired, moving the deal one step closer to closing.The deal still needs Chinese antitrust approval.In April, Xilinx and AMD shareholders voted to approve the $35B deal, which is expected to close before the end of the year.
