XLNX - AMD preferred over Intel at BofA despite historically low sentiment
AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) is the preferred semiconductor company over Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) at Bank of America, despite there being a historically low sentiment for the Santa Clara, California-based Intel. Analyst Vivek Arya said that Intel (INTC) has seen ownership levels by funds drop to 23.1%, down 0.4% month-over-month and 6.3% year-over-year, the lowest in history. Conversely, ownership in AMD (AMD) is now at 26.5%, above Intel (INTC) for the first time ever. AMD (AMD) shares are falling early Thursday down nearly 1% to $147.75, while Intel (INTC) shares are slightly higher to $48.64. The analyst notes that AMD (AMD) is likely to continue to take market share from Intel (INTC) in both the PC and server spaces until Intel (INTC) can effectively execute on its roadmap and strategies. In addition, long-only investors prefer AMD (AMD), as well as Avago Technologies (NASDAQ:AVGO), Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) and NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ:NXPI).
