XLNX - AMD took advantage of 'very strong demand environment' for chips - CEO Lisa Su
JHVEPhoto/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Lisa Su, president and CEO of computer chip maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) said Wednesday that the company's better-than-expected earnings report was driven by a "very strong demand environment" for its products Su told CNBC the company remains on track with its product development plans, reporting that its next-generation Genoa chip will come out as scheduled next year. She also said the company is in talks with regulators involving its pending Xilinx (XLNX) merger, which AMD still expects to close this year. In a quarterly report released the previous evening, AMD topped expectations with its earnings and revenue. The top-line figure nearly doubled from last year to reach $3.85B. The firm also raised its full-year forecast. Su attributed the results to "very high demand" especially in the PC market, where she said the company made "strategic" bets.
