ARR - American Rare Earths announces positive metallurgical testing at Halleck Creek
(NewsDirect)
American Rare Earths CEO Donald Swartzjoined Steve Darling from Proactive to share an update on thecompany’s work on metallurgical testing at its flagship HalleckCreek project in Wyoming.
Thepreliminary test results have been highly positive, indicating thatthe ore can be effectively processed using conventional technologies. This approach not only requires less initial capital expenditure butalso offers lower ongoing operating costs.
The metallurgical testing has demonstrateda 28.5% increase in the recovery of Neodymium and Praseodymium Oxidecompared to prior designs. The mineralization in the deposit primarilyconsists of allanite, and testing has shown that rare earth elementscan be efficiently leached from allanite using atmospheric acid tankleaching.
Acid tank leaching is awell-established mineral processing technology with low technicalrisk. It can process high volumes of concentrate in low-cost leachtrains at below-boiling point temperatures, which is morecost-effective compared to traditional acid-baking kilns. Thecompany's current exploration program is nearing completion, andcore material obtained from this program will be sent to labs for thenext phase of detailed metallurgical testing.
These positiveresults suggest that American Rare Earths is making significantprogress in developing an efficient and cost-effective process forextracting rare earth elements from the Halleck Creek project, whichcould have a positive impact on the project's economics.
