BOOT - Apparel sales take off as American get ready to go back out
The retail sales report for March showed a significant increase in sales of clothes and clothing accessories. The category saw a 18.3% jump on a month-to-month basis and 101% increase against the soft pandemic comparable from a year ago. Department stores saw a 13.0% increase on a month-to-month basis and 25.6% year-over-year gain. With Americans ready to go out again, the setup could be strong for an apparel sector recovery.
