The COVID-19 economic shutdown caused the markets to drop 37% in 1.5 months or 25% per month (averaged). For comparison, the Great Recession of 2007-2009 dropped the markets 49% in 16 months or roughly 3% per month and the Great Depression of 1929 caused a market drop of 89% over 34 months or 2.6% per month.
