KURE - Asia-Pacific stocks rise tracking positive session on Wall Street; focus on US inflation data

Japan ( NKY:IND ) +1.16% Tokyo headline CPI for December 2.4% y/y (prior 2.6%) .

China ( SHCOMP ) +0.28% . China 10 Year Government Bond Yield decreased to a 3-year low of 2.53%.

Investors also look forward to Chinese trade and inflation figures this week to guide the economic and policy outlooks.

Hong Kong ( HSI ) +0.29% .

India ( SENSEX ) +0.86% . India's inflation data for December and industrial production for November are due Friday.

Australia ( AS51 ) +0.93% . Australian November Retail Sales +2.0% m/m (expected +1.2%).

Private house approvals in Australia fell on a seasonally adjusted basis by 1.7% month-on-month to 8,506 units in November 2023 reversing from a 2.2% rise in October.

In the U.S. on Monday, all three major indexes ended with solid gains after snapping 9-week win streak last week amid an upturn in tech stocks ahead of earnings season and the release of key inflation data later this week.

U.S. stock futures inched lower on Tuesday after the major averages started the week on a strong note, with technology stocks posting sharp gains: Dow -0.14% ; S&P 500 -0.13% ; Nasdaq -0.14% .

Investors now look ahead to key US inflation data this week for further clues on the path for Federal Reserve monetary policy. Major banks will also report earnings this week, including the Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo.
