AMGDF - Aston Martin Partners with Britishvolt to develop EV batteries

Aston Martin (OTCMKTS: AMGDF) is set to work with Britishvolt for the development of “high-performance battery cell technology,” as the company prepares to launch a battery-electric vehicle in 2025. Both firms have signed an agreement regarding the plans.

The firms revealed Monday that a joint R&D team would “design, develop, and industrialize battery packs, including bespoke modules and a battery management system.”

“Supplementing the close strategic relationship with our shareholder Mercedes-Benz AG, this partnership provides Aston Martin with additional access to technology and skills to broaden our electrification options,” said Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers in a statement. “We are proud to be partnering with a UK-based, low-carbon battery manufacturer as part of our ambition to be a leading sustainable ultra-luxury business.”

Aston Martin strives to broaden its offering to consumers by fulfilling the demand for electric vehicles. The company says that all of its new product lines will provide the option of an electrified powertrain by 2026. Dispatch of the Valhalla, a plug-in hybrid, is set to begin in 2024 and it would like its “core portfolio to be fully electrified by 2030.”

According to Aston Martin Lagonda CEO Tobias Moers, the partnership with Britishvolt allowed “Aston Martin with additional access to technology and skills to broaden our electrification options.”
