ATOM - ATOME makes progress with Costa Rica green fertiliser project

ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOME) CEO Olivier Mussatjoined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details of a pivotalcollaboration with ICE, Costa Rica's state power company, todevelop a green fertiliser project.
Musat said the venture underscores ATOME's strategy fordecentralised green fertiliser production, echoing its successfulmodel in Paraguay. The project, akin in scale to their Paraguayanfacility at 120 megawatts, aims for efficiency and cost reductionthrough replication. Negotiations for power purchase agreements areexpected to conclude within four to six months, with Mussat optimisticabout exceeding timelines.
CostaRica, renowned for its green initiatives and significant agriculturalexports, views this project as a strategic move to decarbonise itsagricultural sector and maintain its green branding while addressingits reliance on conventional fertilisers. The choice of Costa Rica wasstrategic for ATOME, leveraging the country's nearly 100% greengrid and its robust agricultural sector requiring substantialfertiliser imports.
This initiative aligns with ATOME'sbroader strategy to establish a leading position in the greenagricultural products market across Central and South America.
