OTLY - Beyond Meat files for trademark protection on Beyond Milk name

Beyond Meat (BYND -2.1%) filed a trademark application for the mark "Beyond Milk" per an update on the United State Patent and Trademark Office's website. The filing indicates that the the trademark application has been accepted by the office after meeting the minimum filing requirements. The patent has not yet been assigned to an examiner as of today. While there isn't any more information to go on, the development could be of interest to Oatly (OTLY -2.4%) down the road. In general, Beyond Meat is fairly active in the patent world, with the company looking to protects its new technology created to create complex meat alternatives. Sector watch: Impossible Foods (IMPF) has been reportedly working on a plant-base milk product since last year. Food tech firm NotCo has raised another $235M as it looks to get more aggressive in the space.
