SDG - BlackRock plans to launch a climate transition-focused ETF

BlackRock plans to launch another exchange traded fund focused on climate transition, filing with regulators to roll out the iShares Breakthrough Environmental Solutions ETF.

The ETF is a passive fund that aims to invest in both U.S. and non-U.S. companies that are involved with the advancement and innovative developments of new technologies that address climate transition.

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the iShares Breakthrough Environmental Solutions ETF will aim to track the Morningstar Global Emerging Green Technology Select Index. This industry tracking tool excludes companies that it identifies as being involved in the business of tobacco, controversial weapons, producers and retailers of civilian firearms, businesses involved in thermal coal mining, along with thermal coal-based power generation or the extraction of oil sands.

The new fund will trade alongside BlackRock’s roughly 30 other environmental- and ESG-focused exchange traded funds. Some of those funds include the following:

• BlackRock Future Climate and Sustainable Economy ETF ( NYSEARCA: BECO )
• iShares Paris-Aligned Climate MSCI USA ETF ( NASDAQ: PABU )
• iShares ESG Aware MSCI USA ETF ( NASDAQ: ESGU )
• iShares MSCI Global Sustainable Development Goals ETF ( SDG )
• iShares Global Clean Energy ETF ( NASDAQ: ICLN )
