VIACA - BofA's streaming download check shows strength for bigger players - and newer entrants
An analysis of downloads of top streaming-video names showed "robust" activity for stocks in its media/entertainment universe, BofA says. That's coming despite ongoing production headwinds for films and television shows over the past several months. Strength in particular was ongoing for news, general entertainment and sports, Jessica Reif Ehrlich and team write. Disney Plus (DIS) drew a lot of the attention in the streaming world last month. It saw 10.1M downloads in February (about 0.67x Netflix's global download rate), vs. 16.6M in January, with the help of new content in the form of WandaVision. Meanwhile the launch of general-entertainment brand Star came on Feb. 23 in several countries, with more to come later this year (including a Star Plus stand-alone service in Latin America).
