SDRLF - Brazil's 'Car Wash' probe ensnares Seadrill Sapura
Brazilian and Dutch police execute two dozen search warrants as part of a corruption probe into offshore oil rig company Seadrill (SDRLF) and Malaysia's Sapura Energy (SKPBF), as Brazil's "Car Wash" corruption investigation expands to cover an increasing number of international firms. The prosecutors describe the operation as an attempt to deepen ongoing probes into three contracts worth $2.7B signed between Sapura and state-run Petrobras in 2011 for the construction and charter of three pipe-laying support vessels.A joint venture in Brazil between Sapura Energy and Seadrill allegedly paid bribes worth 1.5% of the contracts it won with Petrobras, and some of the bribe money appeared to have made its way back to two "high-ranking" Sapura executives in Malaysia, prosecutors say.Seadrill last week entered into forbearance agreements with some creditors regarding its senior secured credit facility agreements.
