USAI - Brent oil benchmark could soon include U.S. crude - S&P Global Platts
S&P Global Platts says it has opened consultations on adding U.S. WTI Midland crude to its Dated Brent benchmark, a move that could transform the way oil prices are set in many parts of the world. The move reflects the growing importance of U.S. crude internationally - the U.S. restarted crude exports in 2015 - and the fact that supplies of some of the North Sea's key grades are running out.WTI Midland is "a close fit to the existing North Sea basket in terms of quality, pricing and consumption. The addition of the grade to the basket would provide additional volume and would further ensure the continued robustness of the Dated Brent FOB benchmark," Platts says.ETFs: [[USO]], [[UCO]], [[BNO]], [[SCO]], [[USL]], [[DBO]], [[USOI]], [[NRGU]], [[OILK]], [[OLEM]], [[NRGD]], [[USAI]], [[NRGO]], [[NRGZ]], [[YGRN]]
