BHF - Brighthouse Life Insurance provides notice of data security event

  • Brighthouse Life Insurance said on Thursday that on June 18, Genworth Life Insurance Company and Genworth Life Insurance Company of New York notified the company of a security incident at Genworth’s third-party vendor, PBI Research Services.
  • Security incident compromised the data of certain BLIC policyholders.
  • "On June 20, 2023, Genworth provided BLIC with the resident state information for the impacted policyholders," Brighthouse Life Insurance said in a statement .
  • Brighthouse Life Insurance added that a vulnerability in PBI's MOVEit software had caused the security incident, which took place on May 29, 2023, and May 30, 2023.
  • According to Brighthouse Life Insurance, the security incident did not affect any BLIC information systems.
