PCG - California faces more rainstorms as 220000 still without power
PG&E ( NYSE: PCG ) -2.4% in early Tuesday trading as more than 220K homes and businesses are without power in California following severe flooding caused by massive storms.
According to PowerOutage.us , PG&E suffered the most outages among California utilities with 195K customers without power, followed by Sacramento Municipal Utility District at 22.9K.
Six storms since Christmas have caused surging ocean wave that have battered seaside communities and gale-force winds that have uprooted thousands of trees weakened by prolonged drought.
Five rivers are being monitored for flooding, including the Cosumnes River in Sacramento County and the Russian River in Napa and Mendocino counties in northern California.
Another storm is forecast to hit Thursday and likely drag across northern California, as well as Oregon and Washington, the U.S. Weather Prediction Center said, adding the Pacific Coast states may see above-average rain for the next two weeks .
Long-range forecast models show little change to larger weather patterns until the end of January, which in addition to bringing storms to the West Coast are expected to keep most of the U.S. relatively mild .
