KSU - Canadian Pacific to buy Kansas City Southern for $25 billion
Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) has agreed to buy Kansas City Southern (KSU) for $25B in a cash and stock offer valued at $275 per share, Financial Times reported.The board of Kansas City Southern has approved the deal which has also received the regulatory nod from the US Surface Transportation Board.Ahead of a possible announcement on Sunday, the two companies were not immediately available for comment, the FT report said.In a neutral thesis on the stock, Seeking Alpha contributor Patrick Doyle saw Kansas City Southern as ‘morbidly’ expensive despite an ‘extraordinarily wide "moat" with irreplaceable assets’.
