CSIQ - Canadian Solar to build high-purity polysilicon plant in China

Canadian Solar ( NASDAQ: CSIQ ) unveiled plans Wednesday to build a solar manufacturing industrial park in China's Qinghai province with a capacity of 50K tons/year of high-purity polysilicon.

Subject to market conditions, Canadian Solar ( CSIQ ) also may build other manufacturing facilities in the region for ingots, wafers, cells, modules and other auxiliary materials.

The company expects the facility to begin production in mid-2024.

Canadian Solar ( CSIQ ) shares have been trading near YTD highs in recent days, as the U.S. Senate passed legislation that includes $369B in climate-change spending .
