CSIQ - Canadian Solar to build PV manufacturing plant in Texas its first in U.S.

Canadian Solar ( NASDAQ: CSIQ ) said Thursday it plans to build a solar photovoltaic module manufacturing plant in Mesquite, Texas, the company's first production facility in the U.S .
Canadian Solar ( CSIQ ) said the $250M plant will have production capacity of 5 GW/year, equivalent to ~20K high-power modules per day, with production expected to begin around the end of 2023.
The company currently has manufacturing facilities in Canada, China, Brazil, Thailand and Vietnam.
The company said the deployment of the Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact solar cell technology at the plant will help reduce consumer electricity bills and contribute towards decarbonizing the energy grid.
