PTRA - Canoo leads EV and autonomous driving stock rally

Electric vehicle and autonomous driving stocks are gaining to start the day as investors show an interest in startups. The gains are led by Canoo (GOEV +15.1%). Other stocks trading up include Proterra (PTRA +6.9%), Arcimoto (FUV +3.9%), Hyliion (HYLN +3.6%), Romeo Power (RMO +10.5%), Chargepoint Holdings (CHPT +1.7%), Fisker (FSR +3.8%), Nikola (NKLA +0.5%), Workhorse Group (WKHS +0.1%), Arrival (ARVL +1.0%), and Blink Charging (BLNK +1.7%). Autonomous vehicle software companies Aeva Technologies (AEVA +7.9%) and Lumineer Technologies (LAZR +3.6%) are also following the trend. Workhorse Group (WKHS +0.1%) remains steady after the company disclosed details on allegations from a former director. These stocks stand to benefit if the NHTSA re-applies emission fines on automakers for failing to meet fuel efficiency requirements. Yields on several EV startup stocks have fallen below the S&P 500 despite large gains at the beginning of the year.
