Diversifying your operations in the shipping industry isn't uncommon. We saw Danaos ( DAC ) go into dry bulk a few years ago by investing directly in vessels and through a stake in Eagle Bulk, which is now Star Bulk Carriers ( SBLK ) post the merger. We also saw Costamare ( CMRE ) acquire a somewhat big dry bulk fleet a while back, which it has since spun off to Costamare Bulkers Holdings ( CMDB ). I just covered CMDB the other day here ....
