VIACA - CBS Sports locks down Serie A soccer rights with streaming emphasis
CBS Sports ([[VIAC]] -2.6%, [[VIACA]] -3%) has acquired exclusive U.S. rights to Serie A, the top Italian soccer league system. The deal is a multiplatform agreement that includes covering the Serie A Championship, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana. And a significant chunk of the deal is headed to streaming. Paramount Plus will deliver more than 400 club matches live per season through 2024 - all 380 Serie A matches, at least 25 Coppa Italia matches (including everything from fourth knockout round on), and the Supercoppa Italiana matchup. Select matches will be televised each year on the company's linear channels, including CBS Sports Network. CBS Sports starts coverage in August with the start of the 2021-2022 season.
