WLTW - Change Healthcare drops as DOJ sues to block Aon's planned $30B Willis Towers deal
jetcityimage/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Change Healthcare (CHNG) hit session lows earlier and is now down almost 1% as investors appear to be concerned after the Dept. of Justice sued to block Aon's (AON) planned $30B purchase of Willis Towers Watson (WLTW) on antitrust grounds. Change Healthcare's planned sale to UnitedHealth (UNH) also needs DOJ approval and in late March it was reported that the the antitrust regulator was further scrutinizing the transaction. In addition, CTFN yesterday reported that the DOJ's review of the deal is being handled by the regulator's Technology and Digital Platforms ("TDP") division and not through healthcare as would likely be expected. The deal has been somewhat "sidetracked" as the regulator tries to "narrow the scope" of its inquiry. Last month, an antitrust trade group came out against UnitedHealth's planned Change Healthcare deal. Earlier, Supreme Court upholds Affordable Care Act.
