CMC - Commercial Metals names Matt as new CEO; Smith set to become Chairman

Commercial Metals ( NYSE: CMC ) said Monday it named current President Peter Matt as its new CEO effective September 1, succeeding Barbara Smith, who will retire as CEO and become Executive Chairman.

Matt became Commercial Metals' ( CMC ) president in April, after serving more than six years as CFO of Constellium; previously, he spent 30 years at Credit Suisse and was a managing partner for Tumpline Capital in 2015-16.

Smith joined Commercial Metals ( CMC ) in 2011 as CFO and was promoted to COO in 2016 and to CEO in 2017; previously she was CFO of Gerdau Ameristeel and FARO Technologies, and she spent more than 20 years at Alcoa.
