ACRHF - Connecticut legalizes marijuana for recreational use
Connecticut has become the 19th state to legalize adult, recreational use of cannabis after Gov. Ned Lamont signed the bill into law on Tuesday.The bill will come into effect on July 01 allowing adults aged 21 and older to possess up to 1.5 ounces of cannabis. The sale of recreational marijuana is expected to begin in May 2022. "People have been working on this for 10 years," Lamont noted adding "it's been a long time coming. I think we have a good bill that puts public health first."The legalization "will help eliminate the dangerous unregulated market and support a new, growing sector of our economy which will create jobs," Lamont said previously before signing the bill.
