CNSL - Consolidated Comms to spread gigabit service to additional 300000 with RDOF funding
Consolidated Communications (CNSL) has announced plans to accelerate fiber builds and spread gigabit-capable service to an additional 300,000 homes and businesses in 2021. That follows the company's results in the Rural Digital Opportunities Fund auction. Funding from the RDOF will partly offset incremental build capital expenditures. Consolidated secured $58.9M in funding over 10 years, across 246 census block groups in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Illinois, Texas, Florida and Minnesota. The plan, joined with Consolidated's recent strategic partnership with Searchlight Capital, will upgrade a total of 1.6M additional passings to fiber-gigabit services over a five-year period.
