While WTI Cushing prices were recently at the mid-$60s per barrel (bbl), prices for heavy crude in Canada were trading at less than $30/bbl. Meanwhile, WTI Cushing is trading at a discount to crude prices on the Texas Gulf Coast that is wider than the pipeline transportation cost of moving crude from Cushing to the Houston area.
