For the past month, gold and gold mining stocks have languished in the shadow of the broad stock market. While stocks soared in August, the yellow metal - as well as the shares of companies that mine it - went nowhere as investors were more than happy to leave the safe havens and embrace riskier assets. The indifference toward gold is likely to reverse in the coming weeks, however, as recent statements from the Federal Reserve suggest.
