Shares have fallen dramatically in 2022, amid ongoing COVID restrictions in its home country. The stock has dropped about 54% since the end of 2021. By comparison, the S&P 500 has fallen around 20% over the same period of time.

Rising egg prices have helped drive the stock higher throughout the year. Shares have advanced about 68% in 2022 and are hovering near their 52-week highs headed into the earnings announcement.

Going into the report, analyst A. Vandendael said CALM was set up for " another strong quarter ," with egg prices up 266% compared to 2021. However, the analyst also expressed some caution about "success strongly linked to temporarily inflated pricing, ongoing feeding and production costs increases due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and energy costs."
