SSEZY - Equinor SSE to jointly develop two U.K. low-carbon power stations
Equinor ([[EQNR]] -3.1%) and U.K. utility SSE (SSEZY) say they will jointly develop the world's first 100% hydrogen-fueled power plant in Britain's carbon-intensive industrial cluster in the Humber region. The companies say the Keadby Hydrogen plant would have a peak demand of 1,800 MW of hydrogen, generating ~900 MW of electricity while also reducing emissions.Equinor and SSE also plan to build a 900 MW natural gas-fired power plant at Keadby, fitted with carbon capture technology to cut emissions; the captured CO2 would be transported using shared pipelines before being stored under the North Sea.Equinor also is involved in a project to produce hydrogen from natural gas at Saltend Chemicals Park, which could supply low-carbon hydrogen to the Keadby Hydrogen power plant.Equinor boasts a strong portfolio of growth projects, boosted by a large new discovery offshore Norway, Power Hedge writes in a bullish analysis posted recently on Seeking Alpha.
